Settings — Lesson Types & Pricing

This page covers how to set up and manage lesson types, pricing, and coach pay rates.

Adding and Editing Lesson Types

Lesson types are configured per store in Settings > Lesson Types & Pricing. Each lesson type has a name, booking type (private or group), a student price, a coach pay rate, and a pricing unit.

To add a lesson type:

  1. Go to Settings > Lesson Types & Pricing.
  2. Click Add Lesson Type.
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Name — a descriptive name (e.g., "Private - Beginner", "Group - Advanced").
    • Booking Type — Private Lesson or Group Lesson.
    • Default Price — the base price charged to students.
    • Coach Pay Rate — the amount paid to the coach.
    • Price Per — choose Hour (multiplied by duration) or Session (flat rate regardless of duration).
  4. Click Save.

Lesson type names must be unique within your store (not case-sensitive). Extra spaces are trimmed automatically.

Coach Rate Overrides

If a specific coach should be paid a different rate for a particular lesson type, you can set a per-coach override.

To set a coach rate override:

  1. Go to Settings > Lesson Types & Pricing.
  2. Open the lesson type you want to adjust.
  3. Expand the Coach Rates section.
  4. Set a custom rate for the specific coach.
  5. Click Save.

The override applies to all future bookings with that coach and lesson type.

Warning

Changing any pricing or coach rates does not affect existing bookings. All bookings that were already created keep their original prices. Only new bookings use the updated rates.

Note

When editing an existing booking, changing the lesson type, time, or participants will recalculate the price using the current rates.

Deactivating a Lesson Type

If you no longer offer a certain type of lesson, you can deactivate it.

To deactivate a lesson type:

  1. Go to Settings > Lesson Types & Pricing.
  2. Click the Active status badge on the lesson type.
  3. Confirm the deactivation.

What happens when a lesson type is deactivated:

  • It's hidden from the booking form — it can't be selected for new bookings.
  • Existing bookings with this lesson type are not modified. Their prices and lesson type remain intact.
  • The lesson type stays visible in Settings for reference.
  • The edit button is hidden — reactivate it first to make changes.

To reactivate: Click the Inactive badge and confirm. The lesson type becomes available for new bookings again.

Deleting a Lesson Type

There is no separate delete button. Deletion is handled through the Active/Inactive toggle:

  • If the lesson type has no bookings, toggling it off offers a Delete option for permanent removal.
  • If the lesson type has any bookings, toggling it off offers Deactivate instead — this preserves your booking history and reporting data.
